Chapter 12: Expect the unexpected
- Yui performs her "un-tan" clapping. The official (2011) dub version didn't seem to have as much impact (and Scout seemed to agree).
- Spy joins in with Yui and performs his spycrab taunt.
-Previously featured in CODE RED Aug 31 2010 - "Ritsu ended up being louder and more recklessly offbeat than Yui; her shouts didn't match the timing of Yui's calls."
-In the K-On! DTA, it is possible to have Ritsu try her hand at "un-tan" calls by dragging her with the mouse several times. - "The girl kept her right hand around the core's top handle. She threw her goggles to the ground and waved gently with her left hand."
-Payback influence: the 4th split day - part 3. Jack had a Gumi cosplayer wave at the camera, though she wasn't wearing her default outfit.
Chapter 13: Confidence building
- This chapter was named for a co-op achievement in Portal 2, a game that Rick the Adventure Sphere was from.
- "Mio, who was trying to regain her composure that was lost with the new arrivals, performed a few lines of a song she helped write with her bandmates."
-The song is "Girls In Wonderland" and was the B-side of K-On!! (season 2)'s 2nd ending theme, "No Thank You!". It seemingly fit the impending #SK09 situation. - "[Rick] then asked Mio, "You think there might be nine more of this guy somewhere?" [...] [Mio] panicked at the thought of multiple Soldiers marching down a hill with, from what she heard, their rocket launchers, shotguns, shovels, and pickaxes"
-A reference to "Meet the Medic", and the fact that multiple duplicates of a player class (a mercenary type) can exist at the same time in Team Fortress 2. - "She then said, "No, I wasn't thinking of it like that." However, once again, Mio spoke in a voice that wasn't really hers."
-See chapter 14. - Soldier calls out the following words as he rocket-jumps: "Attack", "Booyah", and "Charge". They follow the first three letters of the alphabet, and were ordered in this way for fun.
Chapter 14: Influential retaliation
- Mio takes on the voices of several characters from shows that have all been reviewed by MasakoX throughout 2011. Jack previously mentioned MasakoX in Payback: the Otafest vlogs day 2 (season 1).
- " "I've been waiting for you!" Mio called out. The cheerful voice she spoke in did not fit her usual personality one bit."
-Mio's Japanese voice actress also voiced Linda in Rio: Rainbow Gate. - "Mio gasped again. "Why are you here now?" she asked frantically. She began to speak in a voice similar to her own, but wasn't."
-Mio's voice actress also voiced Houki Shinonono in IS <Infinite Stratos>. - " "Are you planning to use that against him?" she asked. However, the voice that came out of Mio's mouth was even more child-like than the cheerful child-like voice, to the point where it sounded similar to Azusa's voice."
-She also voiced Saki Nagatsuka in Ro-Kyu-Bu. - "Yui threw an outward peace-sign gesture with her right hand"
-Payback influence: day 3 part 1. Just after the concert coverup, Jack asked a Yui cosplayer to do a random pose, and she did a peace-sign gesture. - "Mugi had her hands on her hips."
-Tsumugi-as-Serah madness continues.
-Payback influence: the 4th split day - part 3. Jack asked a Serah cosplayer (wearing her Final Fantasy XIII-2 costume) to do a random pose, and she decided to put her hands on her hips briefly before she was asked to wave at the camera. This same cosplayer appeared in Payback season 2 in Serah's XIII outfit. - "Mugi was now holding her keytar as if she was wielding a bow. How a keyboardist like her even knew of such a pose was anybody's guess, but it may have been related to the video game character she sounded like earlier."
-Tsumugi mimics a pose in Final Fantasy XIII-2 where Serah, preparing to fight an enemy, goes into a one-crossed-leg crouch and readies her bow. This random pose can be seen in media such as at the end of this trailer. - "Azusa cupped her hands around her mouth. "S--s--s-- Stop! Stop, please!" she begged Soldier."
-In the K-On! DTA, it is possible to have Azusa say, once she is clicked, "Ch-ch-ch-- stop! Stop desu!" - "how someone like her would know of such spontaneously random action poses, could only be anyone's guess. With both hands, Mio swung the cane's handle toward Soldier. She then spun the cane around just in front of her, and then held it at an angle at her head with the tip facing down."
-Payback influence: day 3 part 2. Jack asked a Mio cosplayer in a "Don't Say Lazy" costume to do random action poses, and she came up with a martial arts moveset where she spun her cane in her hands and did a kick. - "Her reply was in a cold mature voice that wasn't exactly hers. "No, you damn insect!" "
-Finally, Mio's voice actress also voiced Seraphim in Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?.
-Note: Mio/Seraphim's line translation intensity has been downplayed for this release. The dub equivalent has Seraphim calling Ayumu a "maggot", which coincidentally is the same insult Soldier uses in Team Fortress 2. - "Mio giggled again and winked."
-At this point, Mio showed that she had a connection with Miku - they both "exposed their backsides" under different circumstances.
